Oprah, you are getting on my nerves!

Has anyone ever wondered why hypnotism, new age philosophies, magic, spirit guides, trances, awakenings, etc. have been getting so much positive coverage in the media today? Has anyone also been wondering why these philosophies have been given credence? The media are supposed to be an objective source of reporting facts and figures and events, yet, when Christianity defends its position on what these philosophies spout off, those defending Christianity are termed as ‘close minded individuals.’
Yet, as Christians, we are introduced to every talk show host (whether on television, political platform, or radio) ideas and beliefs about life, death, and the way to God. Christianity has no defense, because it is given none. Christians are not allowed to defend what they believe, even by the media who purports itself to showing every side of the matter. If Christians try to share a belief that is contrary to what the popular belief is, they are interrupted, skewered on a the pole of logical thinking, and shown as people who are unmerciful, unloving, and unintelligent. This happens in colleges across the country, even across the world. Those who hold any type of Biblical belief are ostracized by the very ones who encourage people to make up their own minds about their lives and opinions. Oprah is doing it, too. She impales the name of Jesus by asking, “What about Jesus?” By asking this question, she shakes her fist in the face of the man she used to worship in that Baptist church. Then, she calls herself a Christian. Christian means ‘little Christ’ or follower of Christ. If someone is a follower of Christ, they walk in His footsteps. A Christian is a member or adherent to Christianity. Christianity is based on those who accept Jesus as the Risen Lord and Savior and the only way to salvation: a monotheistic religion. Christianity is also based on relationship. Compared to other religions across the world, Christianity is so readily accessible because we can commune and speak with our one true God anytime, anywhere because He is a Living God. Is this the religion that Oprah subscribes to, lives by?
Why then is it so hard to listen to the views of a Christian? We are forced to listen to the views of every other religion and philosophy out there in humanity. Why is it so hard to give credence Christianity? Is it really close minded? Is it really exclusive, inclusive? John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son…” What other religion can offer its proselytes such a promise, such a demonstration of love? What has Buddha ever done for you? What has your spirit guide ever done for you?
What is love? Love is the willingness to lay down your life so that someone else my live. That’s also called selflessness. Love is wanting someone you love to go and walk the right way. Why is that hard to accept? What is wrong with only one way to Heaven. At least it spells it out for us so we don’t have to wonder if we’re going to be there or not when we die.
If a debate on religion is going to happen on talk shows (as defined earlier), run it like a debate, not an argument. In a debate, each side is allowed ample and equal time to share their views, doctrines and beliefs, and based on what is said during the debate, the audience can make their own decision. People like Oprah are not being open minded because they are not allowing Christianity an equal opportunity to have its say. That is the very definition of being close minded.
