Okay, let's get this straight. I love to read and dream fiction, but I don't necessarily like to write it. So, for any of you fiction writers, here was my dream last night that would make a great story. You are welcome to use it if you want.
* I work somewhere or visit a specific place often. I know everyone there and we get along. There is one specific man there who I fell in love with. He is very tall, thick (not fat or too skinny, but he's just a big guy), wavy black hair, friendly face, and very smart. But the kicker is that he is an alcoholic, and I'm the only one he will listen to or will do anything for. There are many times where I have to take him home because I'm the only one he'll give the keys to. I stay with him until he passes out, and then I go into his guest bedroom (if it's really late) and lock the door. He usually makes breakfast even though he's hungover. He tells me he loves me, but I tell him it won't work because I'm not like him and I don't want to be in a relationship like that, because a lot of times the symptom of alcoholism is indicative of deeper issues. I run away.
Fast-forward 5 years: I've just married an older man who is handsome and very tall and very well established in the literary world. I do believe he's a poet. I walk around his sprawling apartment and I even saw his name on his slips from publishing companies telling him his poetry is wonderful. We sit down and cuddle for a little while, talking with some friends. I don't remember who. After they leave, we go to the bedroom, and that's where I find out he's a homosexual who is using me as a cover-up. He's got a "boyfriend" already and refuses to do his duty as a husband. I'm devastated. I find out not only is he gay, but he's an alcoholic. I tell him that I won't stay married to him, and demand an annulment. Devastated, I run to the train station, and take a train to a house in the middle of the WV mountains. It is snowing and I stay with some friends, the Hortons, in a lovely little house. I'm advised to get a lawyer and get the annulment as soon as possible. My lawyer ends up being the man I was in love with 5 years ago. He's not had alcohol since I left, he's turned his life around (Christian), and he went to law school. I get an annulment with him as my lawyer. My gay ex-husband doesn't contest it at all. While we are in the courtroom, the man who I was in love with 5 years ago, realizes through the counsel of his mentor, that he is still in love with me. He proposes to me after I've become single, and I accept.
This is a great storyline that any fiction writer could play up bigtime. Have fun, and please let me know, because I would love to read it.
Oh, this is what the man who I was in love with 5 years ago looked similar to:
