Mandy and Gilbert's Wedding Poem

10 Ways of Looking at Love and Marriage
Lauren Young

1.
It comes softly --
a clever little thief
to steal what longs to be taken.

2.
The fire flickers in the forge --
no matter the color it changes to,
it's still fire.
It still burns.

3.
An emotion so strong you could spend
the rest of your life trying to define it.

4.
A word our tongue longs
to invoke.
The strongest description
of how we feel.

5.
The sigh after a kiss,
cheek laid on cheek,
fingers entangled, life entwined
as hearts collide, expand
and fill like sponges soaking
up the moisture that gives life.

6.
Something needed to survive.

7.
The blush on the cheek that accompanies
the sweet tinkling tone of saying his name
as he says yours.

8.
A share-a-thon that can last for decades.

9.
A shadow of the love
that shed His life so that
we might follow that example.

10.
Walk down the aisle.
Right foot.
Left foot.
Right foot.
Left foot.
Hand out.
Ring right there.
I do.
